A test of willpower...

I knew I was missing something as I was rushing out the door this morning in a frenzy.  And so today became an unplanned test of mental toughness as I attempted my long run on the 'mill sans iPod.  I felt a little weak without my crutch, so I decided to keep the same pace and incline as the previous week.  But I *did* include a quick 10min leg strength training before I headed home, thanks to some motivation given to my by my coworkers...

I've been pretty anti-social during lunch break at work, but hey, I'm working on it.  And today was a great example of what I have been missing!  Two great outcomes:
1)  The "Healthy Challenge":  A challenge my fellow workers had made, each person individualized their goals for the month, and whoever gets closest to their *tough but possible* goals, the others take out to lunch.  I'm eager to get a free Zingerman's sandwich!!  Here are my monthly goals:
-  Make homemade, healthy dinner 3x a week
-  Include strength training to workouts every week (40min arms/30min abs/20min legs)
-  Vinyasa yoga once a week
-  Cheez-its once a week
I already ate a bag of Cheez-its every day this week, and haven't made a homemade dinner yet, so I'm not doing so well...

2)  Gears & Beers Ride to Cure ALS event - Apparently my work has a group of people participating in this event in June.  I've been itching to do something new this year, and I'd definitely like to cross off a "Century Ride" from my list (although, as most of you know, I'm the worst cyclist ever!)!  The best part?  This will be something I can train w/ the hubs!  I've been pretty openly jealous of my girlfriends who've trained w/ their hubs for past running races we've done.  But with the hub's multiple knee surgeries & permanent knee screws on his resume, that wasn't an option for me...until NOW!!  I just need to figure out how to convince him that riding a hundred miles is F-U-N...
